As CBERNET Bilgi Teknolojileri Danışmanlık A.Ş., we were very proud to participate as a speaker at TÜREK 2024, one of the most important wind energy events in Turkey. CBERNET Chairman Gökay TÜRKSÖNMEZ shared his comprehensive assessments on the rapidly growing cyber security needs in the wind energy sector and the critical importance of this area in the sector.

Mr. TÜRKSÖNMEZ emphasized the need to increase cyber security measures to ensure the security of energy infrastructures and maintain operational continuity, and discussed in depth the possible threats to wind energy facilities and the measures to be taken.

As CBERNET, we are aware that cyber security has become a strategic priority with the increasing digitalization in the energy sector and we are focused on developing sector-specific security solutions. In his presentation at TÜREK 2024, TÜRKSÖNMEZ explained the potential cyber threats to energy systems and the impact of these threats on the sector.

These security measures, which are critical for the business continuity of wind energy facilities, played a major role in making energy infrastructures more resilient. As CBERNET, we provided detailed information to our stakeholders in the sector about the innovative security solutions we offer and the benefits these solutions provide to the energy sector.

At the event, TÜRKSÖNMEZ emphasized how to close the security gaps that may occur in wind energy infrastructures and the cyber security strategies that can be implemented to increase the resilience of these systems. In addition, CBERNET’s expertise in this field and its sector-specific security solutions were introduced as effective and sustainable methods for the protection of energy infrastructures.

As CBERNET, by participating in TÜREK 2024, we emphasized that cyber security is a critical element in Turkey’s clean energy transformation and exchanged information with decision makers in the sector. This event was a great opportunity to introduce our security solutions to a wide audience and develop new collaborations. We were pleased to meet with all stakeholders of the industry at TÜREK 2024 and raise awareness about Turkey’s energy security.

On October 22, 2024, Gökay Türksönmez, our General Manager, was invited by Gazi University Cyber Security Research and Development Community and a pleasant event was held by answering the students’ questions about his career life and in this context.

On May 05, 2023, our General Manager Gökay Türksönmez was invited by OSTİM Technical University and held a conference on Industrial Cyber Security, his area of expertise.

In the conference activity; EKS systems, Industry 4.0 and the digitalization process, the systems that the process makes vulnerable to cyber-attacks were explained in detail, the measures that can be taken according to international standards and the project activities of CBERNET were mentioned. The questions of the participants were answered and the meeting was completed with mutual goodwill and wishes.

The scope of the Cyber Security Competency Model in the Energy Sector has been expanded.

Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) amended the Regulation on Cyber Security Competency Model in the Energy Sector.
EMRA’s Regulation Amending the Regulation on Cyber Security Competency Model in the Energy Sector was published in the Official Gazette (28.01.2024).

Accordingly, electricity generation facilities that communicate with the Turkish Electricity Transmission Co. (TEİAŞ) Remote Control and Command Center (SCADA) or Energy Management System (EMS) without using serial-based communication methods and owners of electricity generation facilities with Black-Start feature were included within the scope of the Regulation on Cyber Security Competency Model in the Energy Sector.

In this context, we had a pleasant and productive planning meeting with esteemed ENERJISA officials. We would like to thank Mr. Soner Solak and the entire ENERJISA team for their kind invitation and hospitality.

As CBERNET, we are pleased to announce that we have started field studies to provide consultancy for EMRA Cyber Security Competency Model calendar, gap analysis and reporting.

General Manager Gökay Türksönmez; EMO Ankara Chairman Prof. Dr. Şeref Sağıroğlu Together with Hatice Bilge Algın, Member of the Board of Directors, and İsmail Sargın, Chairman of the Energy Commission, they visited Prof. Dr. Yavuz Demir, Rector of Ankara Bilim University.

With the Cooperation Protocol signed between EMO and Ankara Bilim University, work has begun to accelerate interaction, especially in the preparation of infrastructures where students can develop in sectoral issues and to train qualified engineers.

On 02 May 2023, Mehmet AKDEMİR, CBERNET Business Development Manager, made a presentation on “Implementation and Operation of Cyber Security Model in Critical Facilities and Operational Technologies (OT) Infrastructures” at the Cyber Security Summit event organized by IEEE Gazi Student Branch.

In the presentation; Critical infrastructures and ECS systems, sample attacks on these systems, national regulations, Industry 4.0 and digitalization process, the systems that the process makes vulnerable to cyber attacks were explained in detail, the measures that can be taken according to international standards were mentioned and answers were given to the questions of the participants.

The 15th International Conference on Information Security and Cryptology was held on October 19-20, 2022 at the National Library of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey with the main theme of “Virtual Reality and Cyber Security”. The conference, whose supporters included EMO Ankara Branch, brought together researchers and scientists from various sub-disciplines in the fields of information security and cryptography in Turkey.

As CBERNET, our General Manager Gökay TÜRKSÖNMEZ and our Field Team Leader Mehmet AKDEMİR also participated in the relevant activity in order to come together with sector stakeholders and present Cyber Security violations and solution suggestions in OT/EKS infrastructures.

Bilateral meetings were held on the subject, and both the studies on the cyber security model of Critical/Strategic Infrastructures and the competencies of global/domestic manufacturers in the relevant field were mutually discussed. Considering that cyber security has a live cycle and that especially domestic solution manufacturers need more field data and experience, the workshop was concluded with the decision to further discussions.

The “Cyber Homeland and Defense National Workshop”, jointly organized by EMO Ankara Branch and Ankara Chamber of Commerce, started on Monday, October 31, 2022 at the ATO Assembly Hall with opening speeches after a moment of silence and the National Anthem. Opening speeches were delivered by Prof. Dr. Seref Sagiroglu, Chairman of the Board of EMO Ankara Branch, Gürsel Baran, Chairman of the Board of ATO, Yavuz Emir Beyribey, Vice President of the Digital Transformation Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey and Ömer Fatih Sayan, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.

The first session of the event was chaired by Prof. Dr. Şeref Sağıroğlu. Information and Communication Technologies Authority- ICTA- ICT National Cyber Incident Response Center. Department Bşk. Onur A., T.C. Presidency of the Republic of Turkey Digital Transformation Office, Turkey Cyber Security Cluster General Coordination and Cyber Security Department Bşk. Unit Manager Duygu Fidancıoğlu, Labris Networks Board Member Oğuz YILMAZ, Emcekare Engineering General Manager Aykut Açıkgöz, CBERNET General Manager Gökay Türksönmez and Field Team Leader Mehmet AKDEMİR, Dr. Lecturer Mustafa Şenol from Istanbul Gelişim University and finally Dr. Mustafa Şenol from Istanbul Gelişim University. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şenol from Istanbul Gelişim University and finally Dr. Hüseyin Bayazıt, Advisor of Alaaddin Keykubat Cyber Academy Foundation, took part in this session.

The second session of the workshop was chaired by Taha Yucel, President of the Information Security Association and Aselsan General Manager Assist. Presidency of the Republic of Turkey DDO, Cyber Security Department. Unit Md. Yusuf Tancan, DivvyDrive Bilişim Teknolojileri Ticaret A.Ş. Gn. Yusuf Tulgar, 4th Class Police Chief Hüseyin AKARSLAN from the EGM TEM Department, and BTK USOM Advanced Security Operation Coordinator Mahmut Esat Yıldırım. Mahmut Esat Yıldırım took part in this session. Taha Yücel left the session early as he had to attend another program. EMO Ankara Branch Board Secretary Hatice Bilge Alğın moderated the session in Yücel’s place.

The last session of the event was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alkan, Head of Forensic Informatics Department at Gazi University. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alkan chaired the session. In the last session, Gazi Uni. Prof. Dr. Murat Dener, Head of the Department of Information Security, Cyber Homeland Program Coordinator. Kadir Kağan İnanoğlu, Bartın Cyber Homeland Project Coordinator Lect. Prof. Dr. Eyüp Burak CEYHAN, GaziCyber Cyber Security Community Student Community Bşk. Mustafa ÖZTÜRK and Asst. Assist.
